Comment Section

  • Strong C2 halo with a flux rope oriented towards the southwest erupting around 12:00 UT on the 6th leads to a strong shock with a pretty clear magnetic cloud. From the inferred transit time of about 36 hours, this is clearly a very fast CME. The source is the same active region that spawned the much studied limb X flare and fast CME a few days later on the 10th. (Hess)
