  • Source region is probably a gradual faint halo CME as seen in LASCO C2; from CDAW, 2008/12/12 08:54 UT, PA 297, AW 184, Vel 203 km/s
  • STEREO COR2 A and B clearly shows an Earth-directed CME
  • Surface source region is a quiet Sun filament eruption; The Sun is in deep minimum, and there is no single active region on the front disk.

An event Ying Lui recommends for studying Earth-directed CMEs before 2011, or when the two STEREO spacecraft were ahead of the Sun relative to Earth. This is because heliospheric imaging greatly aids our tracking of the CMEs from Sun to Earth. This is a good candidate. [Added by D. Webb, 09/29/2014]
